Steven Gerrard has been blown away by the impact that Glen Kamara has had since joining Rangers from Dundee in the January transfer window.

Kamara, 23, had originally agreed a pre-contract deal with the Light Blues before the Glasgow club pushed forward his arrival by paying Dundee £50,000 to secure his services earlier than what was originally planned.

The former Arsenal midfielder has since become a key player for Rangers, starting in all but one of their Scottish Premiership fixtures since his debut in mid-February.

Gerrard is stunned that Rangers managed to sign Kamara for such a small fee, based on how well he has played in 2019.

“You’ve got Kamara who’s an absolute steal for £50,000,” he said, as quoted by the Express.

“I can’t believe we got him. He’s going to be an incredible player if he keeps learning.”

OPINION

Kamara has done extremely well since signing for Rangers in January and it says a lot about him when you see that the only game he has failed to start since his debut in February was the 2-1 defeat to Celtic. It looks as though if the Finland international does not play then Rangers struggle, which is testament to how well he has done at Ibrox. Kamara covers every blade of grass when he plays and he can also pass and tackle the ball as good as anyone else in the side. He and Ryan Jack are a great pairing in the centre of the midfield and hopefully they can build on that partnership in the summer and come back even stronger next season when Rangers aim to stop Celtic’s bid to win a ninth title in a row. Rangers did very well to strike such a bargain when they signed Kamara in January and hopefully Jordan Jones, who also agreed a pre-contract move to Ibrox in the winter, can be a similar success.
