Marcel Brands may have unearthed a gem after it was confirmed that Everton are set to sign defender Sebastian Kristensen from Lyngby in the summer.

The Danish club announced via their official website on Wednesday that the Toffees have agreed to purchase the 16-year-old, who will play for David Unsworth’s Under-23s next season.

Lyngby have confirmed that them and Everton have been holding talks for quite some time about Kristensen.

The young defender has had a trial at the Premier League club, and it appears that they must have been impressed with what he display in that trial with a deal now in place to snap him up in the summer transfer window.

Kristensen has risen through the ranks of a relatively unknown academy at Lyngby, but they have had their success in recent years.

Borussia Dortmund’s Jacob Bruun Larsen and Ajax’s Lasse Schøne both hail from the Danish top-flight side, and Kristensen will undoubtedly want

Director of football Brands made a name for himself at PSV by signing good young players and helping them to promote from their own academy.

It is clear from who Everton signed last summer that Brands wants to add more young players with qualities to the squad at Goodison Park, and Kristensen could end up being the next masterstroke by the Dutchman.

For now, Kristensen just needs to get his head down and work hard to show that Everton were right to give him a chance and hopefully in the next few years, we will see him walking out at Goodison Park as a first team defender.
