Leeds were hit with a fresh injury blow after left-back Barry Douglas picked up a knee injury in the 3-2 win against Millwall on Saturday, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Douglas, 29, came on at half-time but was injured in a challenge with Millwall’s Jed Wallace.

But, in echos of the previous game against Sheffield United when Pontus Jansson had to play until the end with an injury, Douglas hobbled his way to the end after Marcelo Bielsa had used all of his subs.

According to the YEP, Douglas is now a doubt for the game against Birmingham on Saturday.

OPINION

With Kemar Roofe possibly back on Saturday and Adam Forshaw making his return against Millwall, Bielsa was set to have a full first-team squad to pick from for the first time this season. That sounds incredible but Leeds have been hit with a huge number of injuries this season and the fact they’re still in second is testament to their character. The game against Millwall was a real battler. Twice Leeds had to come from behind and it was Bielsa’s tactical changes that secured the three points. Douglas set up the second equaliser for Luke Ayling in the 71st minute, but it was the bold change down to one centre-back that flummoxed Millwall and set Pablo Hernandez free. Douglas showed why he’s such an important attacking player for Leeds but the downside is that, with all the subs made, he had to hobble on until the end, despite being in obvious discomfort. Leeds fans will be desperately hoping that he hasn’t done himself more serious damage.
