Grady Diangana has been one of the best breakthrough acts at the London Stadium this season, and West Ham fans have been delighted to see Manuel Pellegrini put his faith in the club’s youngster.

Diangana celebrated his 21st birthday on Friday, and that led to co-chairman David Gold wishing him his best via his personal Twitter account.

Interestingly, Gold also told Diangana that his “time will come”, which is certainly something that will be music to the ears of most West Ham supporters.

West Ham’s academy is one of the best in English football and fans pride themselves with the sheer volume of top-class players that have risen through the ranks in East London to become top international players.

Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Michael Carrick and Joe Cole are some of the best examples over the last couple of decades while Declan Rice is the latest academy product of the Irons to become a mainstay of the first team, and even earning senior caps for England.

Diangana has started to play every now and then for West Ham this season, yet he remains on the fringes of the squad having started just five times in the Premier League under Pellegrini’s leadership.

However judging by Gold’s tweet, fans can expect the young attacker to have an even bigger role in the first team set-up in the near future.

It is also a good sign that West Ham are willing to let their academy products have a shot in the Premier League.

Nathan Holland, Ben Johnson and Conor Coventry are three of the club’s best Under-23s players and if Diangana is going to get a chance to shine soon, so should they because they are three very promising youngsters.

Rice’s emergence will surely pave the way for more young players to make it at West Ham, and that can only be a good thing for the supporters.
