Peter Crouch has heaped praise on Wolves duo Diogo Jota and Jonny, as well as young team mate Morgan Gibbs-White.

Wanderers thrashed top four contenders Arsenal 3-1 in midweek to keep their dreams of European football next season alive, and Crouch has admitted to being thoroughly impressed with certain members of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Writing in a column for the Daily Mail, he said: “So many of their players have made big impressions.

“We all know about Ruben Neves but Diogo Jota and Jonny have been superb and Morgan Gibbs-White is going to be a huge talent.”

OPINION

This is high praise indeed from Crouch. Wolves have been fantastic this season, and although he has named four players here, he quite easily could have picked out another seven for praise. Wanderers have come into the Premier League as a fully-formed entity, and one that threatens to get stronger and stronger. Their results against the top-six have proved that. Realistically, not finishing seventh may actually prove to be a good thing for them, and should they miss out in the Europa League, it would give them a whole preseason to gather themselves, strengthen, and push on again next year. The gap between the top six and the rest of the league is huge at the moment, but you can’t help feeling that Wolves, alongside maybe Everton and Leicester City, are the closes thing we have to a genuine challenger to breaking into that elite bracket. It won’t happen overnight, but it could happen one day.
