Charlie Nicholas has predicted that Man City will progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Tottenham have a 1-0 lead from the first-leg and a goal for them would mean City having to score three.

But that’s exactly what Nicholas thinks they’ll do, predicting a 3-1 scoreline in his Sky Sports column.

However, he claims it will be a “tight affair” and said “I hope for their sake they [Man City] start Sterling, Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero once again, as these can damage Tottenham, who will sit in and play on the counter-attack with Lucas Moura’s pace.”

He ended by saying, “Man City will go through – it will go right to the wire, but City are still holding the edge at this moment.”

OPINION

Man City definitely have the firepower to blow any side away but they’re coming into this game a goal down and that could get the nerves started if Spurs can hold on without conceding in the first-half. Pochettino’s tactics will be to contain and try and hit City on the break – Pep Guardiola’s men need to win by two clear goals so an away goal will make things much tricker for them. The opening goal could be key to the game. If Tottenham score it they’ll hold a massive advantage and they can sit back in the knowledge that their opponents have to score three. However, if City get the opening goal then the tie would be even and you’d have to think that the home side would hold all the aces. Lucas Moura is the player who can unlock the tie for Tottenham. He scored three at the weekend and will be supremely confident that he can win the game for his side. He’s got the pace to hit City on the counter, along with Heung-min Son. We’d love to see Mauricio Pochettino play both of them.
