West Bromwich Albion were praised by Charlie Adam when his was delivering his verdict on the play-offs but he still opted to tip Aston Villa ahead of them.

The Stoke City midfielder shared that West Brom had gone under the radar and praised the job James Shan had done since succeeding Darren Moore as manager.

Yet despite highlighting the Baggies, Adam quickly stated he fancied Villa in the play-offs.

“West Brom have gone under the radar and done their business, the manager has come in steadied the ship after an incredible season but I fancy Villa,” stated Adam BBC Radio 5 Live (20:01, Monday April 29th).

While many will no doubt not be tipping West Brom to win the play-offs and instead backing Leeds United, due to them likely to finish third, or Villa due to their recent unbeaten run; Adam is one of the few who could truly be left with egg on his face over his verdict.

The Stoke City midfielder claims the Baggies have gone under the radar, implying they’re being overlooked, but quickly dismisses them to favour Villa.

The fact Adam is no doubt aware of WBA’s talents, their firepower up front, and sort of warns others about ignoring West Brom in the race for the play-offs; he’s just going to look silly if the Baggies prove him right about being underrated by winning the play-offs.

Shan’s side are more than capable of achieving promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs as you just have to look at the quality of their squad.

With James Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle being a formidable attacking pair to call upon as well as the likes of Jake Livermore, Gareth Barry and Craig Dawson being experienced enough to drag their team forward; how do they not have a real chance of winning the play-offs?

So when you consider that Adam is surely at risk of being embarrassed over tipping Villa after gushing about West Brom, as Shan’s side can make him wish he backed them.
