Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted that Leeds will shade the three points on Saturday when they take on Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men wrested back control over their fate with a 2-0 win at Preston on Tuesday, lifting to them second, while Sheffield United were held to a 1-1 draw with Birmingham.

There are five games left and if Leeds win them all, they’ll be back in the Premier League. Prutton believes they will take one step closer on Saturday, beating Sheffield Wednesday 2-1.

Writing in his column on Sky Sports he said, “Leeds got the win at Preston on Tuesday night, which they needed to do after such a poor performance against Birmingham at the weekend.

“Sheffield Wednesday have probably left a little bit too much to do to reach the play-offs, but if they keep winning games you never know. I can’t see them getting anything from Elland Road, though.”

OPINION

This is the time of the season when traditional rivalries can be set aside and the United side of Sheffield will be desperately hoping for a Wednesday win on Saturday. Leeds should win but they’ve been really up and down over the past few weeks and you never know which team is going to turn up. On their game they’re more than a match for anyone in the Championship. However, they often fail to convert possession into goals and they’ve dropped points recently in games they should have won easily – QPR is the one that really springs to mind. Marcelo Bielsa has named an unchanged line-up for the game on Saturday and that means the pressure for goals will continue on the shoulders of Patrick Bamford. He scored twice against Preston and will be full of confidence and Leeds have Kemar Roofe on the bench if needed. We think this will be a Leeds win too.
