Darren Moore shared that he thought Marcelo Bielsa had brought an aggressive style of football to Leeds United and compared them to Sheffield United.

The former West Bromwich Albion manager delivered his one-word verdict on the Whites’ style and also noted that they were a very energetic side.

Moore claimed that he thought Leeds and Sheffield United had the same style but that both managers adopted it in a different way, with the Whites preferring to have a midfielder drop deep then having their centre-backs push forward.

“I mean Norwich have been superb, Daniel has brought a wonderful efficiency and a brand of football to Norwich and they have been consistent, probably the most consistent and they are where they are,” said Moore on Sky Sports News (17:29, Thursday April 18th).

“Obviously Marcelo has brought in an aggressive style of football to Leeds, they’re very energetic and for me the man is Chris Wilder, he has done an incredible job at Sheffield United and my tip for manager of the season as the style of play, the rotation, he brings to Sheffield United, Leeds do the same but adopt it a different way with a midfielder dropping in.”

“Whereas Chris starts with the three, but his two centre-backs end up high and wide, so they’ve brought a real fresh flavour to the division and it’s wonderful to see all three teams.”

OPINION

Moore steered away from naming the teams he thought would achieve automatic promotion and just gushed about the three clubs who were competing for the top-two places in the Championship. However it is worth nothing that the former Baggies boss clearly favoured Sheffield United over both Leeds and Norwich to some degree, as he seemed to have more praise for them and their manager Wilder in particular. Yet that said Leeds fans will no doubt still be happy about Moore’s verdict, as he is still full of praise. Bielsa’s side are in an intense fight to win automatic promotion but as it stands their fate is in their own hands. The Whites currently sit second with 82 points, which makes them three points clear of the Blades, and know they just have to keep their good form going to end up in the Premier League next year. Hopefully for the sake of Leeds supporters that scenario develops as while the Whites are a talented squad if they end up dropping the ball and have to go through the play-offs, then it could be a very stressful experience.
