Leeds fans have been behind Marcelo Bielsa 100% this season, as he’s guided their side to within a whisker of automatic promotion.

Unfortunately though, it looks like the wheels have come off the bus right at the end of the season and defeat to Brentford on Monday evening has all but condemned them to the play-offs.

Bielsa made a huge call for the game, dropping arguably Leeds’ best player of the season, Kalvin Phillips, preferring Adam Forshaw instead.

Afterwards, Bielsa justified his selection saying that Forshaw was more suited to the game, but many Leeds fans disagreed with him. And the only other time this season Bielsa did the same thing, against Norwich, it didn’t work then either, with Leeds going down 3-1 to the league leaders.

Fans are still behind Bielsa but many flocked onto Twitter to question his decision over Phillips. And, on the face of it, it does seem like an odd move. Bielsa said that Phillips is a more defensive player and defence was sorely lacking last night, with Pontus Jansson in particular making a key mistake for Brentford’s first goal.

Here are the best reactions to Bielsa’s decision to drop Phillips:
