OPINION
Kalvin Phillips is starting for the Leeds Under-23s tonight and fans are part bewildered and part concerned, with one thinking he might be off in the summer and another that something has happened between Phillips and Bielsa.
That’s a bit dramatic but it does seem odd that the player who has been arguably Leeds’ best this season is playing for the Under-23s with another crunch Championship game coming up on Sunday.
Phillips was dropped for the game against Brentford that Leeds went on to lose 2-0, handing Sheffield United a massive advantage in the race for the top two.
Automatic promotion might be unlikely now but Phillips is still a hugely important player for Leeds and you have to wonder why he’s not being rested and why you’d risk a possible injury at this point in the season.
Ours not to question Bielsa, but plenty of Leeds fans have on Twitter.

Ah, we rested Phillips to win in the U23’s semi’s. Nice. #LUFC https://t.co/rQwB7giY27

Phillips is bound to get injured in the u23 game and tbh that’ll probably be enough to send me over the edge #LUFC

Wtf. Mental. He's fit. Doesnt need to play for u23's. It's daft to risk injury
