Hay: Harrison has been found out

Jack Harrison has been “found out” in the Championship, according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay.

The 22-year-old winger has been on a season-long loan from Man City, but has only scored four goals and added three assists in 38 games across all competitions.

He’s shown talent in spurts this season but he’s not been a consistent performer and Hay summed up his season on the latest episode of the Inside Elland Road podcast (32:30).

“Technically it doesn’t feel like there’s been a drastic improvement here,” said Hay.

“Jack Harrison, great attitude, always committed, but I feel to a certain extent he has been found out in this division.”

OPINION

It’s hard to argue with Hay here. Harrison has been infuriating at times this season and for every good performance he puts in, there are four or five poor ones. As Hay said, it’s not that he isn’t trying. Harrison has been committed to the cause this season but hasn’t been able to deliver consistently and it’s painful to think what might have been if Harrison had chipped in with around 10 goals for Leeds this season. If Leeds do go on to win promotion then there could be a call for him to spend another season with Leeds in the Premier League. However, it’s tough to see how he could perform in the top-flight if he can’t deliver in the Championship. If Leeds do stay in the Championship then another season-long loan could work but he would need to push on. Bielsa seems to like him, though, and if he can develop under anyone it would be the Argentine manager.
