Darren Gough heaped praise on Aston Villa midfield duo Jack Grealish and John McGinn while highlighting the club’s current form.

The talkSPORT pundit pointed out that the Villans were on an unbelievable run of form having won their last ten in a row, and that they needed to avoid losing to keep their momentum going.

While doing this, Gough dubbed Grealish a mastermind and claimed that McGinn had been magnificent for the Villans this season.

“Aston Villa are on an unbelievable run… no they don’t (Kelly said they need to lose) it’s gone beyond that point now,” said Gough on talkSPORT (16:43, Tuesday April 23rd).

“They’re got so many scoring options, Grealish is the mastermind there and McGinn has been magnificent for them.”

OPINION

Several members of Dean Smith’s sides are delivering the goods right now with Grealish and McGinn among that group. The midfielders have played a key part in the Villans improving their form so dramatically that have been able to cruise into the play-off places. Both Grealish and McGinn have been creative sparks for Smith’s side and without them in the team, the Villans would probably struggle to create as many chances. While Grealish does deserve the spotlight, it’s nice to hear McGinn also be spoken about in the same breath. Grealish regularly has his praises sung, and at times you feel McGinn’s impact is overlooked as a result. The 24-year-old arrived from Hibernian in the summer with a lot of hype surrounding him, but he hasn’t let that distract him. The fact McGinn has registered 12 assists and scored eight goals for the Villans in his debut season for them is impressive, as that’s more than people likely hoped.
