Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has said he has had no contact from Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa, after a report linked him with a move to Elland Road.

The 29-year-old DR Congo international is currently on loan at Anderlecht where he’s scored four goals in just seven league games.

TEAMtalk recently revealed that he was a player Leeds were interested in if they won promotion to the Premier League.

However, it was also reported by Het Laatste Nieuws that Anderlecht want to keep him beyond his summer loan period.

Talking after his side lost 2-1 to Antwerp on Sunday, Bolasie responded to the possible interest from Leeds, saying he hadn’t spoken to Bielsa – without ruling it out as an option.

“Have I spoken to Bielsa? I have not heard of that and, frankly, I’m happy to be here and that’s what counts. I will not stay? You never know,” said Bolasie in Belgian outlet Walfoot.

OPINION

Bolasie hasn’t had a good time since his £26million move to Everton from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2016. He made 32 appearances for them but only scored two goals and added four assists before moving on loan to Aston Villa. He didn’t set Villa park alight either, but is doing better at Anderlecht. If they want to keep hold of him then Bolasie could be tempted to stick where he’s scoring. However, Het Laatste Nieuws also claims that he wants a move back to England in the summer. If that’s the case then we can’t think of many better places to go then Leeds – although their promotion hopes took a knock when they were beaten 1-0 by Birmingham on Saturday. After spending the majority of the season in the top-two, Leeds are now third and there’s a very real possibility that they might have to get up the hard way, through the play-offs. Not many teams would fancy playing them over two legs or in the final at Wembley, but there’s no guarantees in the play-offs and Leeds certainly wouldn’t be looking at players like Bolasie if they stay in the Championship.
