Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed his starting XI for the match against Wigan on Friday.

Talking in the pre-match press conference (live on the LUFC app, Weds, 12.30pm), Bielsa said that he would name an unchanged line-up.

Centre-back Liam Cooper is a major doubt to even make the bench, which means Gaetano Berardi will continue to deputise in the centre of defence.

Bielsa was quoted by Leeds journalist Lee Sobot on Wednesday lunchtime.

It means the Leeds line up will be: Casilla, Alioski, Jansson, Berardi, Phillips, Ayling, Klich, Roberts, Hernandez, Harrison and Bamford.

OPINION

Missing Cooper is a blow for Leeds but Berardi did a fine job in the game against Sheffield Wednesday and helped to keep a clean sheet. Interestingly, it means that Patrick Bamford will start up top again, with Kemar Roofe on the bench. Bamford has been in really patchy form, and was really disappointing in the 1-0 against Sheffield Wednesday, but Bielsa is keeping the faith. Bielsa did go on to say that there’s an outside chance that Cooper could play some part in the game, although he did say that it would be “difficult” and that as things stands he’s out. Berardi should be fine against struggling Wigan and given that there’s another game a few days later against Brentford on Monday, it seems more likely that Cooper will be rested completely. With just four games left and a three point lead over Sheffield United in third, Leeds can take a massive step towards the Premier League with a win. If results go their way, they could actually win promotion on Easter Monday.
