COMMENTARY
There is nothing quite like some off field controversy to spice up the end to the Championship season and Middlesbrough, Derby, Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa are not disappointing. According to the Telegraph, Boro chief Steve Gibson has demanded an investigation into the financial dealings of their three Championship rivals as he alleges they are doing what they can to bypass the rules. Unsurprisingly, Villa fans have lashed back at the senior figure on Twitter after he took aim at their club, poking fun at the fact these demands have come at a time when the Riverside Stadium outfit are losing their grip in the hunt for a playoff spot. It might just be coincidence that the trio of teams he has picked out are all still in the running for a top six spot, but the Villa faithful certainly do not think that to be the case. It remains to be seen whether any action is taken but for now, the supporters are quite happy to brush Gibson’s claims off and launch their own riposte to the Boro man.
This is FutbolĀ has rounded up a selection of the Villa faithful’s tweets:
Awww. The desperate way to try and sneak into the playoff spots without earning it. That's cute.
