Andy Walker has predicted that Rangers will earn a 3-1 win against Hearts when they take on Craig Levein’s side at Tynecastle on Saturday afternoon.

If the Gers fail to win against the Jam Tarts this weekend, that will hand Celtic the opportunity to wrap up the Scottish Premiership title if they beat Hibernian at Easter Road on Sunday.

Walker believes that Jermain Defoe will be the key player for Rangers when they take on Hearts, claiming that Ibrox ace Alfredo Morelos has now lost his place in the side to the on-loan Bournemouth striker.

“I expect goals from [Defoe] now that Alfredo Morelos has been forced out of the side,” Walker said on the Sky Sports website as he predicted the scoreline and named his key man for the fixture.

OPINION

Morelos is suspended for the clash against Hearts, so it is odd of Walker to say that he has been “forced” out of Steven Gerrard’s side, because that really isn’t the case. Walker implies that Defoe has won the starting spot of Morelos, but once the Colombia international is back from his suspension, he is bound to be back in Gerrard’s line-up. Rangers will surely see the final games of the season as a chance for Morelos to increase his transfer value one last time. Most fans would agree that the former HJK striker will be offloaded in the summer, especially because his disciplinary record has been a major issue this season. Morelos can score all the goals in the world, but what’s the point when he isn’t available for 10 games a season and fails to perform in the big fixtures? He should go in the summer, and hopefully Rangers will receive a decent offer for him.
