Ian Abrahams has taken exception to Son Heung-min’s snub for the PFA Premier League team of the year, claiming that he would have included the Tottenham ace.

Not a single member of Mauricio Pochettino’s side made it into a team dominated by six Manchester City players and four Liverpool men, with Paul Pogba the only inclusion outside of the top two.

The Frenchman lines up alongside Fernandinho and Bernardo Silva in midfield, but reliable journalist Abrahams has suggested that this was the wrong call.

Taking to Twitter, he said: “My midfield 3 would be Bernardo Silva, Declan Rice, Heung-Min Son”.

OPINION

There is probably a very strong argument that Son should be in the team of the year, but the fact that Moose is suggesting bunging him in midfield tells you all you need to know about the quality on show in the Premier League this season. Realistically, Son is a forward, but does he get in ahead of Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero, or Sadio Mane? Probably not. That’s no reflection on him, but more a statement on how good that trio have been. Take into consideration that Eden Hazard and Mo Salah were snubbed too and you get a real idea of how fierce the competition was. That being said, Moose is right to question that midfield. Bernardo Silva has been magnificent, and you can understand why Fernandinho got the nod, but surely if there is one Spurs man who deserves to be in there it is Christian Eriksen ahead of the wildly temperamental Paul Pogba?
