OPINION
Mateusz Klich continued the winning trend for Leeds United players on international duty on Thursday night as his Poland side got their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign off to an excellent start with a 1-0 win away in Austria. The United midfielder played the full 90 minutes for his national team as he continued his resurgence for club and country this season. Deployed in a deeper role than at Leeds, Klich demonstrated his awareness, reading of the game and immense industry, qualities that have helped him be an integral player in his club’s Championship promotion challenge. The 28-year-old is nothing if not indefatigable. Klich has remarkably started all 38 of Leeds’ league matches this season – an honour he shares with Ezgjan Alioski – and is playing the best football of his career. Leeds supporters were delighted with his international display, and also no doubt pleased he did not suffer an injury.
