OPINION
Steven Davis’ second spell at Rangers has been a slowburner, although his best performance yet last weekend suggested it may still get off the ground. The midfielder, 34, built upon an impressive display against Kilmarnock by demonstrating he can still be a force for Northern Ireland at international level on Thursday night. Davis scored the second of the team’s goals – from the penalty spot – as they got their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign off to an excellent start with a 2-0 triumph over Estonia. The Rangers veteran, on loan from Southampton for the rest of the season, played the full 90 minutes and made the three points secure by rifling his penalty right down the middle of the goal and past visiting goalkeeper Sergei Lepmets after Estonia skipper Karol Mets had gone in high on George Saville. Rangers and international fans are convinced it will bode well for when the domestic programme resumes at the end of next week.
