COMMENTARY
Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn wowed in his cameo appearance against Birmingham City on Sunday and his good form continued in the first 45 minutes of Wednesday’s clash with Nottingham Forest. The 24-year-old struck twice to ensure the Villans went into the half-time break with a 2-1 lead over Forest, and this left many Villans fans scrambling to think of plaudits worthy of the player’s display. While some struggled as one Villans fan seemed so blown away they could only simply say “my word” another was hailing the player as being better than Barcelona playmaker Lionel Messi. While McGinn isn’t on Messi’s level, which isn’t an insult, he did have a stunning first-half. The midfielder seemed to be full on energy and constantly causing Forest to sweat. If the midfielder keeps his performance up in the second-half, Forest will be in real trouble. However McGinn won’t mind making it a miserable night for Forest fans, as Aston Villa need to ensure they get all three points on Wednesday, to keep their play-off hopes alive.
