Rangers are ‘probably’ going to sign Motherwell winger Jake Hastie this summer alongside pre-contract arrival Jordan Jones, according to The Times.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Ibrox outfit are likely to seal the 20-year-old’s capture to add to the arrival of fellow wide man Jones, who will arrive in Glasgow on a free contract after a deal was agreed in the January transfer window.

It is stated that the Light Blues are likely to seek out a new number 10 as well as at least one striker, two if Alfredo Morelos departs.

Hastie, who stands at 5’11” (source: Transfermarkt) has played eight times in the Premiership this season after being recalled from a loan spell at Alloa Athletic by Motherwell and has scored five goals in eight assists.

Good move for Rangers?

Another wide man does not seem like it should be the club’s priority but at the same time Hastie’s form in the top flight cannot be ignored.

Making such a splash on his return to Motherwell at such a young age is only going to attract the attention of big clubs and with a bright future seemingly ahead of the 20-year-old, Rangers are wise to seek his capture.

With Glenn Middleton also at Ibrox, the club could have the future of Scottish wingers at their disposal and that would be a big boost for both club and country.

It does cast doubts over those already at the club, including loanee Ryan Kent, while how will Jones feel about another winger signing in the same summer?

Answers for the club to question if and when Hastie signs on the dotted line.

Likely to happen?

The Times certainly seem to think this is as close to a done deal as possible and while things can change quickly in football this certainly seems to be a deal the Gers fans can expect.

Motherwell are unlikely to be able to resist the temptation of the money offered by the Ibrox outfit and the player himself would be sealing a massive upgrade in club.

Few can turn Rangers down in Scotland and it seems they will once again get what they want.
