Tottenham need a new left-back. Ben Davies has been really poor this season and Danny Rose hasn’t been the same since his knee injury.

Thankfully, it looks like Daniel Levy is going to invest this summer, with the Daily Mail reporting that he’s looking to bring in five players, including a left-back, centre-back and a striker.

As far as the left-back position is concerned, Levy should look north of the border.

Liverpool have probably the best left-back in the country at the moment in Andy Robertson. He came down south via Hull and at a price of £8million has to go down as one of the bargains of recent time.

And there’s another young Scottish left-back who would be perfect for Tottenham – Kieran Tierney.

Tierney is picking up a legion of fans for his performances at Parkhead and will replace Robertson for Scotland after the Liverpool player pulled out of the game against Kazakhstan this week.

According to BBC pundit Don Hutchison, Tierney is just as good a player.

Talking on BBC Radio 5 Live (Tuesday March 19th, 19:37) Hutchison said, “It’ll be a massive loss, he has been in unbelievable form for Liverpool this season but there’s a ready-made replacement in the form of Kieran Tierney who is just as good as a player.”

Hutchison went on to say that Tierney is an “unbelievable” player and that should be enough to get Levy’s wallet open.

Tierney isn’t going unnoticed. Arsenal and Dortmund are interested, although the German side is said to be baulking at the £25million price tag – but that shouldn’t put Tottenham off, especially as his wages won’t be sky high at Celtic.

At just 21 he’s got the talent to go on and be a true star of the world stage. Ley should make him priority number one.
