OPINION
Erik Lamela was only on the pitch for about 20 minutes, but the Argentine got plenty of Tottenham fans talking on Twitter for his performance in the 1-0 win against Borussia Dortmund. Many Spurs supporters have brutalised Lamela after an inept display off the bench in Germany, even though their team progressed to the quarter finals of the Champions League. It was not a classic display by the former Roma attacker, but surely Spurs fans need to be focusing on the positives after two strong performances against the Bundesliga champions. Spurs defended brilliantly in the first-half against Dortmund and Harry Kane’s goal basically killed off the tie after the break. Lamela came off the bench to play for a team four goals to the good. Did he need to pull up trees? Not really. However you can understand some of the frustration. His passes were sloppy and yes, Lucas Moura perhaps does deserve more chances than the Argentine at the moment. Some tweets about Lamela are a bit over the top though.
