After years of domination over the rest of the Premier League, the traditional top four has become a top six thanks to the rise of Tottenham and Manchester City.

While the north west side have been bankrolled by multi-billionaires – the influx of money translating into immediate success – Spurs have succeeded thanks to savvy business and the emergence of top quality talent in north London.

The likes of Harry Kane and Harry Winks are academy graduates of the Lilywhites while the likes of Dele Alli, Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose have been brought in as promising players and turned into superstars – all turning out as regulars for England as well as their club.

It has only been recently that Daniel Levy, the club chairman, has sanctioned big spending on the likes of Davinson Sanchez and quite frankly there has rarely been a penny not well spent.

After two windows of no new arrivals, things have got to change this summer and Tottenham fans will be expecting to see ambition shown by their side – which is why they will be paying close attention to the transfer rumours circling ahead of the off-season.

The Mirror claim that the club are looking to live up to expectations and make a £50million bid for Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon – a move which seems to have been in the pipeline for some time – and having one of the most exciting young English talents would no doubt have a fair few rivals green with envy.

So what about having two?

The Sun report that north London rivals Arsenal are plotting a move to take Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka across the capital and that the Eagles have slapped a £40million price tag on their full back’s head after one of the most impressive breakthrough seasons in the Premier League.

Again, Wan-Bissaka is destined for great things for both club and country and whoever has him on board will have all their rivals looking on with envious glances.

Yes, £90million is a hefty amount of money but with the way prices for English players have inflated, they could both be worth double in a couple of years – not to mention be two of the best players England have had down the flanks.

Levy needs to recognise the business and footballing sense in snapping them up this summer – Tottenham would have everyone in England wishing they were the Lilywhites.
