Chris Sutton has expressed how unimpressed he was at Celtic’s late win against Dundee, suggesting that the result will have opposition fans reaching for their sick buckets.

The Hoops had to rely on a 96th minute Odsonne Edouard winner to extend their lead at the top of the table to 10 points ahead of next Sunday’s Old Firm.

Writing on Twitter after the match, Sutton said: “Sick buckets will be out across the city… but that was ugly… 10 clear”.

OPINION

This result could be massive for Celtic, and is potentially the final nail in the coffin for Rangers’ thin hopes of a title upset. The Gers dropped points again against Kilmarnock on Saturday, but that looked for all the world as if it wouldn’t matter as the Hoops toiled and laboured away to no avail against Dundee on Sunday, only for that late, late goal to crush any hopes the blue half of Glasgow may have had. Going into next week’s Old Firm eight points ahead, knowing that a win would cut that lead to five, would have been massive, but now, knowing even a thumping defeat would still leave Rangers with a mountain to climb, the Hoops’ confidence must have received a real boost today. The only worrying point would be that Celtic’s recent performances have hardly been cause for optimism, and Steven Gerrard’s side may feel that they have what it takes to edge out their bitter rivals once again next weekend. Whether it will be enough, however, remains to be seen.
