COMMENTARY

With a clash against Celtic right around the corner Rangers fans would have been sweating buckets when Alfredo Morelos appeared to lash out at Kirk Broadfoot in the clash against Kilmarnock. Despite the officials on the day taking no action, the Colombian was still not out of trouble, with plenty of rival supporters calling for retrospective action, with Broadfoot also likely to have been worried about the potential of a ban after a nasty looking scrape down the Colombian star’s ankle. As it turns out both seem to have escaped any punishment, the Scottish Sun reporting the SFA have chosen not to take any action. Instead of being delighted though, the reaction from the Gers fans is mixed, with many absolutely fuming that he was facing the prospect of a ban in the first place, as well as Broadfoot escaping for the part he played. Yes, the Rangers man might not have been the instigator but the fact of the matter is that you cannot react in the way Morelos did – especially when you have the reputation the South American star does – and he can consider himself pretty lucky to get away with it. Still, the focus turns onto the Hoops and how they can complete a league double over their bitter rivals. Morelos’ inclusion should help their cause – although he still has to get through an international break with Colombia unscathed.
