Rangers fans were fuming after a terrible display from left-back Borna Barisic at Ibrox on Wednesday. He replaced Andy Halliday in the starting line-up but Rangers fans wished he hadn’t in a night to forget at Ibrox. Rangers went down 2-0 to Aberdeen in the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup on Tuesday night and it’s hard to say they didn’t choke. Again. After losing to Aberdeen in the league cup earlier in the season, this was surely the night for revenge. But, instead, it went horribly wrong after just two minutes when the normally brilliant Glen Kamara gave the ball away to let Niall McGinn in to score after just three minutes. Alfredo Morelos picked up his standard yellow card against Aberdeen, perhaps harshly, for diving, but he managed to stay on the pitch for the full 90 minutes this time. To no avail. Gerrard brought Jermain Defoe on too, in the 66th minute, but they couldn’t find the goal that would get them back in the game after Aberdeen’s second in the 62nd minute. It denies them a shot at bitter rivals Celtic in the semi-finals and probably their only shot at a trophy this season. Gerrard will be fuming.
