Rangers have been handed a boost against Celtic after the international break as striker Alfredo Morelos avoids any retrospective action for an incident against Kilmarnock, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claim on their website that despite fears from Ibrox that the Colombian would be banned for a clash with Kirk Broadfoot, the SFA have chosen not to take any action against the hitman, leaving him free to face the Hoops in the first game after the two week gap in fixtures.

The South American star, who is away with Colombia during the break, appeared to lash out at Broadfoot after the Killie man scraped his boot down the back of the Rangers star’s leg.

Opinion

A lucky escape perhaps for the Rangers man but you can be sure that the Ibrox faithful will not care one bit. Having him available for the clash against Celtic is absolutely massive, even if he has gone missing in recent Old Firm showdowns, as you would not know where the goals are going to come from otherwise. This is the biggest game in both club’s seasons – Celtic knowing victory would all but secure the league title while Rangers need three points to keep their slim chances of glory alive – and the two week break will be seriously difficult for the fans. With both sides having players away on international duty, there will also be hopes that no one comes back injured or tired and unable to feature for their respective team. As always it promises to be a crunch clash and Morelos’ inclusion should add an extra level of spice to the game, his hot headedness likely to be targeted by the Hoops for the 90 minutes – or as long as he manages to stay on the pitch.
