BBC Sportscene pundit Tam McManus has labelled Killie centre-back Kirk Broadfoot ‘out of order’ after the 1-1 draw against Rangers on Saturday.

McManus was responding to a fan who posted a video of Broadfoot raking his studs down the back of Alfredo Morelos’ legs. The fan said it was a “horrible” challenge and that it was no wonder that Morelos reacted.

McManus agreed saying it was “Bang out of order by Broadfoot but that’s him in a nutshell to be honest.”

He added that he wasn’t surprised that Morelos reacted and said “Most players would if someone stood on the back of your ankle deliberately.”

McManus made the claim on his personal Twitter account on Monday morning.

OPINION

Morelos has got a bad reputation as a hothead who can’t control himself on the pitch. However, it’s true – and not just in the game on Saturday – that opposition players go out of their way to get a reaction from the striker. That’s inevitable though, with his reputation. VAR won’t be coming to the Scottish game next season, as the Premier League prepares to introduce the new technology, but the authorities can always rely on video evidence to ban players retrospectively. The result was another nail in the coffin of Rangers’ title hopes – the 1-1 draw leaving them hopelessly out of touch at the top after Celtic won 1-0 in the dying second of their game against Dundee on Sunday. It’s been a case of fine margins this season but Rangers have been on the wrong end of it all. They play Celtic next in the Premiership and will be looking to win consecutive games against their rivals by way of consolation for missing out on all the silverware this season.
