Celtic could lose “a full team of players” in the summer, according to the Scottish Sun.

They claim that the club could be faced with a “mass exodus” in the summer after Brendan Rodgers left to take over at Premier League side Leicester.

Mikael Lustig, Cristian Gamboa and Dedryck Boyata are out of contract in the summer, while Jeremy Toljan and Filip Benkovic  will return to Dortmund and Leicester respectively.

The report claims that Kieran Tierney could be the subject of bids from Premier League sides Arsenal and Leicester, with Dortmund also keeping tabs on him.

Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah will also return after their loan moves expire.

It leads them to say the summer could be their most important one in pursuit of ten-in-a-row.

OPINION

It’s always a massive job replacing a successful manager. Man United are still trying to find the man who can emulate Alex Ferguson’s success six years on and Rodgers – even now he’s loathed by Celtic fans – was hugely successful in Glasgow. This summer could be a defining one for the club. Rangers didn’t manage to sustain a challenge this season but they’re waiting in the wings for any slip-ups. It seems that Rodgers left in part because he was frustrated with the lack of investment from Peter Lawwell and whoever is given the manager’s job in the summer will need to start rebuilding. There are financial realities at Celtic and that involves being creative in the transfer market. If Celtic do lose as many players as this report says is possible, the next manager will have a very big job in front of him and not all Celtic fans believe that Lennon has what’s required.
