To say that Odsonne Edouard’s last minute winner against Dundee was a huge relief for the Celtic fans would be quite the understatement – although there are a couple of Hoops stars who will have been thankful for their teammate’s effort.

The Frenchman sparked jubilant scenes in the away stand – and dugout – at Dens Park with his dramatic winner and you can be sure that Scott Brown had a few thankful words for the striker in the dressing room come full time.

With the goal all that anyone is going to talk about after the game, the midfielder’s shocking display against Dundee will likely go overlooked by many. Had it been a draw or a defeat, he would have surely been under the microscope.

There was a distinct lack of urgency or cutting edge from the Hoops on Sunday afternoon and Brown was more often than not the problem, slowing down the tempo of the game when in possession and doing very little to actually move his side up the pitch.

Yes, he might be a ball winner in the centre but if that is the case then why was he seeing so much of the ball, his teammates often choosing him as an outlet when under pressure?

His experience and know how means that he often finds himself in these pockets of space to help out his side but when the ball came to him he was like Bambi on ice, constantly lacking the composure to make even the most simple of passes.

Had the Bhoys not had the three points under his belt, the post game discussion would be over how long he has left at the top level – Edouard’s winner has given him a seriously lucky escape.
