OPINION
John McGinn has been brilliant for Aston Villa lately, but he was woeful for Scotland on Thursday night in their 3-0 defeat to Kazakhstan and understandably, many fans of the international side have torn the midfielder to shreds for his performance. McGinn just wasn’t in the game at all, all the way to the point when he was hooked off by Alex McLeish midway through the second-half. The former Hibernian player went through a rough patch with Villa not long ago but he has rediscovered his form since Jack Grealish has returned to the side. Does McGinn rely too much on having good players around him? Scotland are a pretty terrible side and McGinn should have been someone to stand out in the Euro 2020 qualifier defeat to Kazakhstan. However he really struggled on the ball, and that could be down to the poor level of his Scotland team-mates. Hopefully this does not effect his form for Villa at a crucial point in the season.

Shocking start for Scotland. Woeful performance so far from
Palmer, Bates, McKenna, Shinnie, McGinn and McBurnie. We should only have players from big teams playing for us.#KAZSCO— TheBhillyBhoys (@TheBhillyBhoys) March 21, 2019
