Dominating a game, creating chances and not converting them? This has been the story of the season for Leeds and it could come back to haunt them if they drop into the play-offs.

Patrick Bamford hasn’t done terribly since Kemar Roofe was injured. Five goals in nine games have kept Leeds afloat but he was guilty of squandering chances on Saturday against Sheffield United.

He wasn’t strong enough in the face of some outstanding defending from Sheffield United and he’s not a natural finisher and that’s what Leeds are really missing at the moment.

Thankfully, salvation could be at hand in time for their next game against Millwall with the return of Kemar Roofe.

Roofe, Leeds’ top scorer, has missed the last six games with a knee injury but ahead of the Sheffield United game, manager Marcelo Bielsa said he was in the final stages of his recovery.

With the international break and an Under-23s game early next week to give him a run-out, Roofe must be fast-tracked back into the side if fit and he must play up top.

Bamford should face the axe and be used as an impact sub. Leeds can’t afford any more slip-ups and Roofe is the man who can fire them back into the Premier League.
