OPINION
Borna Barisic started well at Rangers, but the left-back’s form has been distinctly average, if not worse, since the winter break. The 26-year-old has understandably been destroyed for his inept performance in the 1-1 draw against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday, with one Rangers fan calling the Croatian defender a “liability”. Andy Halliday has not done a lot wrong at left-back this season and he has shown that he can step up in big games like this one, whereas Barisic has regularly been exposed by opposition attackers. He cost Rangers £2million [Daily Mail] when they signed him from Osijek in the summer, but has not done anywhere near enough to prove that he is worth half of that figure. You can’t blame Steven Gerrard for wanting to name an unchanged starting line-up after smashing Dundee in the last game, but Halliday has to start over Barisic from now on. He will start to cost the Gers if he carries on playing.
