OPINION

Borna Barisic surprised a lot of people on Thursday when he scored for Croatia in their 2-1 win against Azerbaijan in the Euro 2020 qualifiers, and understandably, many Rangers fans have been drooling over their left-back for the mark he has made on the international scene. It was not a great start for Croatia when they went a goal down, and Barisic perhaps could have done better to stop that from happening. However he managed to shock the Ibrox faithful by going up the other end and scoring an equaliser before half-time. While saying that he’s now worth £8million or can be classed as the “next Gareth Bale” are a tad optimistic, it’s a promising sign to see him scoring for Croatia. The former Osijek defender has not been playing too well in Scotland lately, with Andy Halliday looking the better option at left-back. That goal on Thursday night could be a massive confidence boost for the summer signing though, and that is good news for Rangers.
