When a former Celtic player speaks up about Rangers the Ibrox faithful usually stick their fingers in their ears and wait for the criticism and insults to stop.

However, the blue half of Glasgow might want to have a listen to what ex-Parkhead star Si Ferry has had to say about what could go on at the club come the summer.

Speaking on the Open Goal podcast about Steven Gerrard’s transfer plans for the summer, he predicted not one but two moves from Aberdeen, saying: “I think Rangers will try to sign (Scott) McKenna in the summer. And (Graeme) Shinnie I think, I think they will try and get both of them.”

Both of the Dons stars are Scotland internationals and there is little doubt that the Rangers faithful would love to see them make the move from Pittodrie to Ibrox ahead of next season.

Shinnie might not be the big name that the Gers supporters want but his experience of the division, not to mention his versatility – able to play as both a midfielder and a left back – would be a welcome addition to a squad in transition at the moment.

Steven Davis has not lived up to expectation and so filling his boots with Shinnie’s feet would make an awful lot of sense – not to mention the fact he is up for a free transfer with a contract that ends this summer.

As for McKenna, his capture would be a real coup for Gerrard and fix the massive problem that has been the club’s defence.

Joe Worrall should not be kept on past the summer after his shaky showings and the Aberdeen man could form quite the dominant partnership alongside Connor Goldson at the heart of the defence.

At 22-years-old he is playing well above his years and there is no questioning he would be an upgrade that the Rangers fans would drool over.

He might be a Celtic man but Ferry is predicting exciting things for the Gers – the supporters best hope they come true.
