Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has been left fuming after a supporter launched a plea to Bristol City after being kicked out of the stadium ahead of the two sides’ clash on Saturday.

The fan in question took to Twitter to reveal how he and his sons had purchased tickets in the Bristol City family stand but were removed ahead of kick off for being away fans, despite assurances from the club’s box office it would be okay.

Radrizzani, who is unlike many owners in that he is active on social media, launched an attack on the club’s behaviour on his personal Twitter account, saying: “This is unacceptable and we will invite the family at Elland Road as guests. what can you expect from a club whom request points deductions for no reasons and didn’t accept our documentary crew to access at the ground and follow our team. Focus on Reading now.”

Opinion

It is excellent that Radrizzani is taking such an active role among the Leeds fanbase but the fact of the matter is that the Leeds supporters should not have been in the home stand in the first place, regardless of how old they were. There are rules in place over this sort of thing and for good reason, and while no one is expecting the young boys to cause trouble, the stewards who removed them were simply doing their job in accordance with the laws. Still, their day out was not in vain for they will get the chance to enjoy a game at Elland Road courtesy of Radrizzani’s generosity and the boys will no doubt love being among the home supporters. They will not be the first and they will not be the last away fans to try get a home seat, but maybe avoid wearing your team’s socks if you want to get away with it.
