Harry Winks and Eric Dier have handed Tottenham a major Champions League double boost ahead of the clash against Borussia Dortmund.

The midfield duo had been major doubts ahead of the last-16, second-leg clash in Germany after injury and illness, respectively.

But a video uploaded on to the official Spurs Twitter account showed Winks, 22, and Dier, 25, getting on the plane headed to Dortmund with the travelling squad.

OPINION

What a massive boost to Tottenham to welcome England internationals Winks and Dier back into their squad. Winks was sorely missed on Saturday as a hip injury kept him out of the 1-1 Premier League draw against Arsenal, while Dier has been sidelined with tonsillitis for Spurs’ last five games. Victor Wanyama joined Moussa Sissoko in central midfield against Arsenal, but the big Kenyan is a shadow of his former self and looks like he needs an extended spell in the Under-23s to recover form and fitness. Winks will surely return to the starting XI if he is passed fit, with his composure, technique and industry providing a neat counter-balance to the driving energy of Sissoko, who has been the team’s outstanding midfielder this season. It would be a surprise if Dier was recalled straight to the starting XI after missing so much football over the last three months, but his versatility and know-how gives Mauricio Pochettino a really useful option on a night when Dortmund must score at least three times to take the match to extra-time.
