West Ham look likely to splash out on securing the uncertain future of midfield maestro Samir Nasri this summer, according to journalist Sam Inkersole.

The Football.London reporter, doing a question and answer on the website’s live blog (14:12), claims that he would be surprised not to see the 41-cap French international at the London Stadium over the summer, after joining the club on a short term contract back in January.

It is stated that the Irons would have to splash out on his contract, offering in the region of £70,000-a-week to seal his future, with his current deal set to run out at the end of the season, with Manuel Pellegrini keen to keep him on board.

Opinion

Nasri has certainly made a difference when he has come into the side and it should not come as a surprise to hear that Pellegrini wants to keep him in east London. If the Hammers were to let him go, he would only be snapped up by another club looking for an attacking midfielder and the Irons would likely be left regretting their decision to see him leave. Whether he has a regular place in the starting XI remains to be seen – he still does not seem completely at full fitness after his time out for a doping ban – but he would be a quality squad player for Pellegrini. A proper pre-season under his belt will do him the world of good, as will some new arrivals to bring the best out of his qualities, and so the Hammers fans can expect to see him return to the London Stadium over the summer.
