Tottenham sent scouts to watch Benfica attacker Joao Pedro Neves Filipe on Thursday, according to A Bola.

The Portuguese newspaper claims on their website that Spurs cast an eye over the 19-year-old ace during the Europa League clash against Dinamo Zagreb at the Stadium of Light, with Bayer Leverkusen also watching him.

The report adds that the young ace currently has a release clause of £25 million, but the Liga NOS outfit are keen to increase it to £85 million.

The Mirror previously reported that Spurs had sent scouts to watch the game, but did not name who they were watching.

Good move for Tottenham?

The attacker – also known as Jota – has scored eight goals in total this season, which is a promising return. It is hard to judge whether this would be a good move for Spurs though. How likely is it that he would make a bid for the first team? With Harry Kane there, it would not be too likely. They could be planning to intergrate him into the youth set up and then allow him to develop – but who knows.

Likely to happen?

Jota’s release clause currently stands at £25 million, which is a price that Spurs would be more than able to afford. However, Benfica want to raise it £85 million. At this price, a move does not seem likely in the slightest. There is no denying Jota’s talent, but Spurs would not be willing to pay that clause for a player who is only 19 and has only scored eight goals. A move seems likely if they keep the release clause at the price it is at, but who knows.
