COMMENTARY
Every day that passes is another day that the Tottenham fans will be feeling they should have been in their new stadium but it appears as though the club are closing in on a return to north London after their elongated stay at Wembley. As revealed on the club’s official website and Twitter account, the first football match at the ground, in the shape of an under-18s clash, will be held later in March as one of the crucial test events and former midfielder Ryan Mason will be part of the coaching team on the day. It is stated that the ex-Hull man, who was forced to retire from football due to a serious head injury, has been shadowing the under-18s staff recently and will be in the dugout when Southampton’s youngsters visit north London. A popular figure among the Spurs faithful, it should come as no surprise to see the fans absolutely head over heels about the news, no doubt with hopes that he will become a permanent fixture behind the scenes after having his career cut short so cruelly.
