Tottenham had a lot of heroes on the pitch in Germany on Tuesday night, as they defied the pundits who said they were in for a tough night, but one incident has blown Spurs fans away. Jan Vertonghen has been brilliant in the Champions League. He played left-back in the first leg against Dortmund where he scored one and made another, and he was at it again last night in his more usual position in the centre, with one incredible last-gasp tackle on Marco Reus. Several fans tweeted video of the tackle that they say set the tone for the game. One fan said it was “mind-blowing” and another responded after watching it saying “mind blown”. Winning 1-0 away after a 3-0 demolition job at home has sent shockwaves through the competition and put Spurs on the map as contenders for the trophy, and it’s good to see a defender get the plaudits. Fans flocked onto Twitter to praise the left-back turned centre-back on Twitter, who’s been one of the most consistent performers for Mauricio Pochettino all season.
