Tottenham have been blown away by PSV Eindhoven sensation Steven Bergwijn, according to De Telegraaf

The Dutch newspaper claim Spurs have been “charmed” by the forward, 21, following his performances for the Eredivsie leaders this season, with Liverpool, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan also keen on him.

De Telegraaf claim scouts are already convinced by Bergwijn and PSV will not consider selling the versatile attacker for anything else than £30 million.

Good move for Tottenham?

Definitely. Yes, some will point at how Vincent Janssen flopped at Spurs after ripping it up in the Dutch Eredivisie. But Bergwijn is a totally different type of player to his more static countryman. The PSV academy product is blisteringly quick, skillful and direct, qualities not in abundance among too many players in the Tottenham squad. He is also at an age when he can be developed and improved by Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff. In 32 matches this season, the Holland international has scored 12 goals and supplied 13 assists, run full-backs ragged and chalked up valuable Champions League experience. No wonder scouts are sending back glowing reports of the sensation.

Likely to happen?

Bergwijn is the kind of player who ticks a lot of boxes. He is young, talented and excited. There is going to be intense competition for his signature this summer, but he looks within reach, as his likely transfer fee should not be too much more than £30million. For a club of Spurs’ resources, that is well within reach.
