Jeff Stelling shared that he was stunned that Tottenham ended up losing 2-1 to Southampton on Saturday as they could have been out of sight during that match.

The Sky Sports presenter stated that at half-time he couldn’t envision the Saints finding a way back into the game and that is a worrying verdict by all accounts.

Especially as Stelling followed up his verdict by pointing out that Spurs had “fallen off” a bit in recent weeks, referencing to their poor run of form in the Premier League.

“Yeah I tell you what, you would have been tearing your hair out at half-time as it’s no exaggeration to say Spurs were certainly out of sight, could have been four or five up, no way Southampton could get back in that game,” said Stelling on talkSPORT (Monday March 11th, 14:26)

“But they have fallen off a bit in recent weeks.”

Many Tottenham fans will be tearing their hair out upon hearing Stelling’s verdict as not only is it hard to disagree with, it paints a worrying picture.

Spurs needed a win against Southampton on Saturday and they had all the opportunities in the world to get one, however they simply couldn’t get the result over the line.

Given that Mauricio Pochettino’s side were dominating all game and still couldn’t win, it could suggest that their run of bad form in the league maybe harder to snap out of then previously thought.

Spurs haven’t won any of their last four league matches and that sort of form will start to play on players’ minds, especially after a surprise loss came out of nowhere.

If Spurs had held on to their lead against Southampton then there would be no doubts about them, and Spurs fans are no doubt frustrated by that.

Tottenham supporters know they can’t afford to drop the ball as there are several teams in contention to finish in the Premier League’s top four and if their side don’t improve quickly, then they could be the side to miss out.
