OPINION
Tottenham fans already sharing feelings of excitement and trepidation at a Champions League draw pitting their club against Manchester City in the last eight had further reason to go into meltdown on Twitter on Friday. The club posted a video of their new 62,000-capacity stadium that made it clear the home leg of the quarter-final on Tuesday, 9 April will be played at the magnificent new venue. The 30-second clip features Champions League branding and ends with a shot of the Man City logo featured on one of giant LED screens. For Lilywhites who have been left frustrated and disappointed by six months of stadium setbacks, the excitement was palpable; the opening of the new White Hart Lane has never seemed so close. Comments in response to the official reveal included “goosebumps”, “oh my goodness” and “chills”. Pep Guardiola’s champions are nobody’s idea of ideal opponents, but at least the new stadium will play host to what promises to be a magnificent occasion.
