Robbie Savage has made his predictions for the end of the season, and believes that Tottenham will miss out on the top four.

Spurs currently sit just one point above fourth placed Arsenal, and BT pundit Savage has suggested that they could let that slender lead slip.

Writing in his column for the Mirror, he said: “I’m expecting a real bunfight to finish in the top four miles behind them.

“Tottenham and Chelsea fans can look away if they want – because based on my score predictions over the last eight weeks of the season, I’m afraid they are going to miss out on Champions League football (unless Spurs win the European Cup or Chelsea win the Europa League).

“Yes, I know my score forecasts might upset some of the natives in north London. Tottenham to finish a point below Arsenal? It’s not as fanciful as you might think – because that’s how they were in the table after the Gunners’ 4-2 win at the Emirates in December.

“But now Spurs have drawn City in the Champions League, they are going to have a huge say on whether Guardiola wins the Quadruple this season.”

OPINION

There seems to be a growing body of pundits who believe that Spurs will let their top four spot slip through their fingers, but the fact remains – this is still their Champions League place to lose. They may have to face up against both Liverpool and Manchester City before the end of the season, and on paper their nearest challengers have much kinder run ins, but they could still pull it out of the bag easily. The issue you have is that most pundits, when making their predictions, understandably don’t account for the results the likes of which Spurs have posted in recent weeks. Nobody would have guessed that they would take just one point form their last four matches, but equally, who’s to say that Arsenal won’t fold in a similar manner? The fact of the matter is that all four of the sides competing for those last two Champions League spots, Manchester United included, are capable of falling apart between now and the end of the season, and Spurs just have to hold their nerve.
