Harry Redknapp has heaped praise on Aston Villa attacker Jack Grealish as Tottenham reportedly line him up for a summer move.

Tottenham tried to sign Grealish last summer but the deal fell through when new owners took over the midlands club.

Now the Daily Mail has claimed that the move could be back on, reporting that Grealish is one of five players Tottenham could bring in in the summer.

Talking on the Alan Brazil Breakfast Show (talkSPORT, Fri, 7am), Redknapp was asked about Grealish by Brazil who said, “What do you make of Grealish? It sounds like Tottenham are having another look at him.”

Redknapp said he would love to see him in north London. “Apparently they were going to take Grealish on when the club was in trouble and Daniel [Levy] thought he could get him really cheap,” said Redknapp.

“Then the new owners came in and they didn’t need money. I love him, I really do. I love watching him play. I think he’s a kid who could play at the very highest level.”

OPINION

Grealish still continues to divide opinion. He’s highly rated by a lot of people in the game, including Harry Redknapp, but fans are yet to be convinced that he’s worth the money that Villa are looking for. However, Grealish obviously deserves to be in the Premier League and he’s not going to get there with Villa this season. Tottenham are trying again to bring him to north London and Daniel Levy must be kicking himself after trying to get him on the cheap last summer. If he’d paid the asking price at the start of last summer, which was a lot cheaper than Grealish would cost now, when Villa needed the money, he’d be a Tottenham player already. Grealish admitted that he thought the move was going to happen and re-integrating back into Villa hampered him at the start of this season. Whether the move happens comes down to how much Villa want for him and whether Levy will sanction the move. Tottenham need to buy players though and Pochettino is obviously a fan of Grealish, like Redknapp. We think he could well be a Spurs player come the end of August.
