Dele Alli is set to undergo a late fitness test ahead of England’s game against Montenegro on Monday evening, according to Sky Sports.

He is one of three players that have injury issues ahead of the Euro 2020 qualifier, set for a 7.45pm kick-off this evening.

Jadon Sancho and Jordan Henderson are the two other players and Sky report that “the nature of the injuries affecting the players is unclear at this stage.”

England manager Gareth Southgate is waiting on fitness news before naming his team.

Tottenham fans will have every right to be worried about this. Alli missed six crucial games for Tottenham with a thigh strain and finally made his comeback in the 2-1 defeat to Southampton. He played 63 minutes against the Czech Republic but could well miss out on the game tonight. We’d imagine Tottenham fans hope that he does miss the game – but as a precaution rather than through injury. They have a massive game against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday and there’s a real danger that they could slip out of the top-four spots in the Premier League, with Arsenal just one point back in fourth and Man United a further two points back from them in fifth. Club fans are always worried about international breaks, precisely for this reason, and the conflict between club and country is always simmering away. Was Alli ready to be thrust back into the spotlight so soon after his injury?
