OPINION
Many Newcastle United fans are surely backtracking over their opinion of attacker Ayoze Perez after he was the only Magpies player to make Robbie Savage’s Premier League Team of the Week following the 3-2 victory over Everton.
The 25-year-old has regularly come under fire from supporters this season with many questioning his place in Rafa Benitez’s starting line-up.
In fact plenty of Magpies fans on social media during the match with the Toffees were slamming Perez for his display with many revealing that as usual they were left unconvinced.
Yet Perez ended up proving his worth against Everton in spectacular fashion as he played a vital part in turning the game around in favour of his side.
The Magpies attacker was clinical enough to score a brace, he also skilfully carved out the chance which Salomon Rondon scored from to start the club’s comeback after they found themselves 2-0 down to the Toffees.
It was hard not to be impressed by Perez as he looked unstoppable and will no doubt be haunting the memories of certain Everton players for the coming weeks.
Savage had several Magpies players to choose from when naming his Premier League Team of the Week, as several upped their game to turn the game around, but he selected Perez.
The pundit shared his Team of the Week on Twitter and surely putting the spotlight on the 25-year-old will have many Magpies fans regretting ever doubting him.

Perez may have been frustrating to watch in a lot of his 33 outings this year but the level of criticism he gets from a large section of Magpies fans is clearly unwarranted.
Given that Perez proved what a talent he is against Everton to grab Savage’s attention, then surely many Magpies fans are backtracking over some of their remarks they have previously made as he silenced the critics in stunning fashion.
